This hat is made from the wool of Karakul sheep. Karakul hat is also known as Jinnah Cap, named after the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The Jinnah cap is part of the national dress of Pakistan along with the Shalwar Kameez. Many early and current Pakistani politicians and heads of state still wear the Jinnah cap.
Jinnah cap is also the national hat of Nepal, where it is called as Dhaka topi . The Jinnah Cap is particularly popular among the Islamic religious scholars and the elder generation of Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and India.
